FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a viral infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus). Common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. After being infected, it usually takes two to 14 days for symptoms to develop. Some people don’t ever have symptoms.

Whether or not you have symptoms, you can pass COVID-19 to others by coughing, sneezing, or simply exhaling.

COVID-19 is a novel, or new, virus, and the scientific understanding of it is evolving. You can stay up to date by checking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Website.

Consider getting tested if you are 18 years or older, experiencing mild or moderate COVID-19 symptoms, or think you have been exposed to the virus. The Eden Well Self-collection kit is not intended for people with severe symptoms. If you have severe symptoms, seek emergency medical care immediately.

Your test result will detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2.

If your test is positive, you have COVID-19. Isolate from other people for at least 10 days since you first noticed symptoms. If you don’t have symptoms, isolate for at least 10 days from the time you took the test. Monitor any symptoms you have and talk with a health care provider as soon as possible.

If your test is negative, you either don’t have COVID-19 or you have it too early to be detected. You may want to re-test if symptoms develop or you’re around someone who tests positive.

Whether your test is positive or negative, continue to practice safety precautions recommended by the CDC such as frequent hand washing, social distancing, and mask wearing. Although getting COVID-19 more than once is currently believed to be rare, it’s possible.

Your results will confirm whether or not you are infected with SARS-CoV-2. If you are positive, it is very important that you limit your contact with other people and continue to monitor your symptoms. Call you doctor and seek medical help as soon as possible. If you are negative, the virus was not present in the sample that you provided. It is important to note that the virus may not be detectable in the early stages of infection, or if the sample wasn’t collected as directed. If you believe you have been exposed or may be positive for the virus, speak with a medical professional and be reevaluated.
